Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people kill his goal of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
