NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn anything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
