Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa showed him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse feedback from other people kill his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and always strives to get better.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
